The engineer has designed a correction that will be performed to see if the subgrade can be improved to provide adequate support for the new base material. The contractor IPS has performed the engineer’s recommendation and the subgrade has improved. This allowed for the compaction to proceed and the first lift of aggregate base to be installed and compacted. Tomorrow the second lift of aggregate base will be installed and compacted. Once that second lift meets required specifications, the asphalt installation will be scheduled.
